Purdue University

Jesse Haarmann is a Ph.D. candidate at Purdue University advised by Bill Johnson. He is from Effingham, IL and earned his BS from the University of Illinois in Crop Sciences and his MS from Purdue in Weed science. In his MS research, Jesse experimented with optimizing respray applications after failed Postemergence applications using different herbicide options and application timings. His current research focuses on PPO inhibitor resistance in waterhemp. Specifically, he is experimenting with novel cases of PPO inhibitor resistance from around the Midwest and trying to understand how these newer resistant populations interact with soil applied PPO inhibitors.  Jesse anticipated graduating in Spring of 2023 and pursuing a career in industry.
