Insects Are Full of Surprises: Field Crop Gotchas in 2021
Insect pests frequently surprise us. In the last several years, Asiatic garden beetle (which has been in the country for over 100 years) has emerged as a new corn pest in the sandy soils of northern Indiana and Ohio and southern Michigan. In 2021, early-season seedcorn maggot infestations took many Indiana growers by surprise. And in the late summer of 2021, fall armyworm was a surprise pest in several area states. This talk will cover the biology and management of these pests.
